Mechanisms of gold and magnetic nanoparticle effects on renal cells

During the first year of the project we established cell culture conditions for renal cells and started with their characterization. We also established settings and protocols for RNA isolation and sample preparation for qRT-PCR and began to analyze gene expression of the cell type characteristic genes which will be continued in the next year. We observed some differences between the cell types, however, they need to be confirmed. Pilot experiments concerning appropriate nanoparticle concentration and time-course of the cell stimulation run as well. Simultaneously, secondary characterization of nanoparticles in culture media started up and first samples for nanoparticle uptake estimation by AAS method were prepared.
