Cytogenetic monitoring of the reponses of the cells of the patients with carcinoma of the cervix uteri to the radiation from the view of prediction of the radiotherapy succes

Project leader: Ivan Chalupa
Project duration: 2007 - 2009

The intention of the project is the cytogenetic monitoring of the responses of normal non-cancer and cancer cells of the patients with the carcinoma of the cervix uteri to the irradiation with the X-rays with the aim to use the obtained results as the predictive factor of radiotherapy success by individual subjects. Besides the direct response of the cells to the irradiation we also would like to monitor the degree of their adaptive response, the changes of their gene expression pattern by the method of comparative expressed sequence hybridization (CESH), inducibility of „bystander effects“ and radiation-induced genomic instability (RIGI) between the normal non-cancer and cancer cells and changes in their clonogenicity.
